“Let there be peace on earth & let it begin with me”
Chaos, Craziness, Turmoil…
Terrorists, Police Brutality, School Shootings…
Piss Poor Wages, Hypocrisy, Fear driven Hate, Wall-Builders…
This is the way of the world. This is the norm. This is what we wake-up to. This is what we fall asleep with. Madness…Sheer Madness! And…guess what? Nothing is going to change. The shit remains…so, now what? So… how do we maintain any semblance of sanity while being surrounded by such madness? How do we hold onto the light of God, within us, when the world tries to extinguish it.
In other words, how do we obtain & maintain the “peace of God” that passes all human understanding? Jesus says, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:27) What does Jesus mean by this? He means this… When the sky seems to be falling down on you & you can’t see which way to go, LOOK UP TO GOD. He means… When you don’t have enough money to pay for rent or food, PRAY TO GOD. He means… When you are sick & tired of being sick & tired, REST IN GOD.
Why look to God? I’ll tell you. You look to God because He is the “peace” that we crave so badly in this hellish world. I tell you the truth. When you truly believe that God, is who He is…then, you understand that He will provide what you need in accord with His holy & divine will. Our Heavenly Father does not want His children to be homeless or…hungry. OF COURSE NOT! So, don’t you believe the lies of the devil. At any time in my life when I have been concerned about not having enough money to pay for necessities…I might pray something like this:
Dear Father, Please forgive me for my sins. You already know the circumstances of your child. You know that I need this amount $____ (fill it in) & I only have $_____(fill it in). You said that you would never forsake me & never leave me. And, I know you can’t lie. So, Father…I call upon you now to help me with these circumstances. I do not want to be homeless & I do not want to be hungry. I also know that you do not want me to be hungry or homeless. Father, I ask you to provide me with what I need, in accord with your holy & divine will, so that I am not homeless or hungry. Also, if I have done something that is not right in your sight which has put me in this moment of lack…then, please show me the wickedness of my ways & help me to do better & be better. Father, I want nothing more than to be closer & closer to you. So, please guide and lead me into a closer relationship with you. I pray all these things in the name of Jesus & by the blood of Jesus. Father, I thank you for providing for all of your child’s needs. Amen.
God waits for His children to come to Him…with their request. And… He longs to give us his “peace.” Do know that He knows about the stressors we face in this lifetime. The bible says, “Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;” (1 Peter 4:1) In addition, we are told, “For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin.” (Hebrews 4:15) So…be not weary…& pl-e-e-e-ase…be not dismayed about this world. Now, do not misunderstand…trouble will knock on your door. Jesus never promised us lives free of problems. He never did. But, in the midst of the problems, you need to remember this… Bring your problems to God & leave them at His feet. And… be blessed with His peace.
